Hi Katie,
I was enjoying your new post right up until I got to No. 57 on your list. I'm sorry you're feeling that way about me, but I'd be fibbing if I said I was surprised.
You're certainly not wrong if you're thinking I've failed you. Personally I think a relationship takes two to make or break, and we've been working together to keep things broken for awhile now.
The cool thing is there's nothing stopping us from making repairs... except an unwillingness to try.
As always I remain willing. And I hope for the day when you'll want us to work together to bring us closer instead of distant. It's going to take both of us to get there. Just as it's going to take both of us to keep us apart.
I want to be a better father and friend to you, someone you can point to with pride instead of disrespect, but I need you to want that, too. If that's not in your plans now, perhaps it will be someday.
Until then Katie, just know that I have an open mind and an open heart and nothing but love for you, along with a dream that someday we can put aside this relationship that neither of us are satisfied with and get the relationship we deserve. I know that can happen if we want it to.
